George Merkle

George Merkle, chief information officer (CIO) of ClearPoint Financial Solutions, Inc. since April 2011, is responsible for the design, development, implementation and operations of Information Technology at ClearPoint.

Prior to joining the company as CIO, George served as President & CEO of CCCS of Greater San Antonio from July 2003 – March 2011. George has held various positions in Information Technology (IT), including CIO/CTO and CEO of StockTips, CIO at First Financial Planners, Business Systems IT Director at BCBS of MO, and Corporate IT Director at Brown Shoe Co.

He received a bachelor of science degree in business from University of Missouri -St. Louis (magna cum laude) in 1974 and a master of science degree in computer science from Washington University in St. Louis in 1983.

George currently serves on the Parish Council of his church and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy after serving from 1967 to 1970, at Naval Communications Station Japan and aboard the USS Schenectady.
